Accra Hearts of Oak will begin their quest to end a three-year domestic trophy drought when the 2025/26 football season kicks off tomorrow.
The Phobians have not won a major domestic title since lifting the MTN FA Cup in 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. However, optimism is high ahead of the new campaign following offseason successes in the Homowo Cup and the Democracy Cup.
Last Friday, Hearts edged rivals Great Olympics by a lone goal to secure the 2025 Democracy Cup, further boosting morale in camp.
“Our goal is to try to compete aggressively in all the competitions across the structure of our football in Ghana,” new head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani said on Wednesday.
Despite a change in the dugout, the club has stuck to its trademark mass recruitment approach, signing 15 new players to bolster the squad for battles on multiple fronts.
“Going into the new season and starting from our opener against Hohoe United, we need to package ourselves strongly and stay consistent in a more sustainable way across all competitions,” Dramani added.
Hearts open their campaign at home against Hohoe United on Friday, before a tricky away clash with Dreams FC on September 19. They will then host Eleven Wonders, who have returned to the Premier League, to wrap up their opening month fixtures.
