Ghanaian football fans will be able to watch every moment of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live after the government, backed by a nationwide fundraising campaign, secured broadcasting rights for the tournament.

The announcement was made by Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, during a ceremony held to support the Black Stars’ preparations for the competition.

The event also saw GCB Bank donate GH¢5 million towards the national team’s World Cup campaign, in a move seen as a significant boost to Ghana’s preparations and ambitions ahead of the tournament.

Mr Adams said the achievement was made possible through collaboration between the government and private sector partners, ensuring supporters across the country would have access to live coverage of the world’s biggest football event.

“Through the support of government and fundraising efforts, we have been able to secure broadcast rights to telecast the World Cup matches live on some of the media stations,” he said.

The fundraising initiative, led by the government, aims to mobilise financial support for the Black Stars as they prepare for the expanded 2026 tournament.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time the competition will be staged across three nations.

With expectations rising among supporters, Ghana is hoping to combine strong preparation on the pitch with growing national backing off it as the Black Stars target a successful campaign on football’s biggest stage.
