Black Stars new boy Tariq Lamptey was in action for his English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion in a 2-1 pre-season-friendly game against Reading on Saturday at the Select Car Leasing stadium.

The London-born defender recently switched International allegiance to Ghana after playing for various underage teams for England.

Lamptey lasted 45 minutes and was impressive as always from the full-back position and is galloped up and down the right flank.

The Seagulls took the lead with goals from Pascal Gross and Solly March before a second half penalty from Yakou Meite reduce the deficit for the Royals.

The Royals grew into the game after initially struggling to interrupt the visitors’ possession-based style.

Gross broke the deadlock with a close-range header in the 19th minute, finishing off a move that also involved March and Tariq Lamptey. The lead was then doubled two minutes after the restart when March drilled home a fine low effort from 20 yards out.

Albion seemed to be cruising but on 58 minutes they gifted Reading a goal when Mac Allister bundled over Meite in the box after Tom Ince had intercepted Sanchez’s poor pass out. Meite made no mistake from the spot, sending Sanchez the wrong way.
