Ghanaian midfielder Kingsley Sarfo who was incarcerated in Sweden for having carnal knowledge of an under age girl has been released earlier than his actual jail term.

Somewhere January 2018 just as the talented midfielder had agreed to play for Ghana the country of his birth instead of Sweden who were hotly pursuing the midfielder, news emerged that the midfielder is wanted for some rape charges.

Kingsley Sarfo was sentenced to jail for 2 years 8 months in Sweden for having sex with an under age girl but his lawyers who had earlier lost an appeal case probed for further evidence which suggested that the 'so called' victim had indeed falsified her age and was not a minor as was been claimed at the time of having the act.

The midfielder has confirmed in an interview with Kumasi based Angel Fm on Thursday that he has indeed been released five days ago.

"I am now out of prison in Sweden. I was released five days ago,"

"I thank the Almighty God for this great day. Thanks to my fans, family, friends and everyone for their unflinching support and prayers during the hard times"

"As it has been said that there is grace in disgrace. We [Me and lawyers] are seeking for justice after the unlawful twenty-two months behind bars"

He was jailed for two years and eight months in Sweden for two counts of child rape , a Malmo District Court ruled in June 2018.

His appeal to have the sentence overturned was rejected five months later meaning he had to serve all the jail sentence.

Until his lawyers dug deep to bring out fresh evidence that the victim had indeed falsified her age as a minor while she was an adult and had consensual sex with the accused.

The earlier ruling meant that the midfielder would have been deported to his homeland Ghana after fully serving the sentence but upon his release he has been sent home in Sweden where his lawyers are looking to file for compensation for wasting his time and life the past 22 months he spent behind bars.
