Students on the government of Ghana scholarship in Morocco are applauding the Akufo-Addo led administration for the improved conditions of service being provided by the scholarship secretariat to facilitate effective learning.

In a letter of appreciation to the secretariat, President of the Ghanaian Students’ Association in Morocco (GHASAM) Isaac Oppong, stated they had wished that the all-important measures had come earlier, “but as the saying goes, better late than never.”

The students cited the purchase of flight tickets, well-furnished apartments, two months advance payment of electricity and water tariffs and the organisation of an advance French and Mathematics classes as some of the new measures introduced by the scholarship secretariat.

The student, however, appealed to the government to accept their proposal for a rent allowance to obliterate problems faced with renting.

They also expressed their willingness to support the implementation of the Representation of the People’s Amendment Law and the Ghana Card which has begun.

“The students’ body is energized and ready to support and promote the good image of our beloved country Ghana,” the statement from the students stated.

Not long ago, similar appreciations were expressed by Ghanaian students in Cuba and Algeria after the scholarship secretariat intervened and paid outstanding arrears due them.

When contacted, Registrar of the Secretariat, Kingsley Agyemang, said the Akufo-Addo administration, through the secretariat, would ensure that Ghanaian students on various scholarships abroad are duly catered for and that the issue of arrears which used to be a problem in the past are addressed promptly.
