US-based Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil recently paid a courtesy visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, following his absence from Ghana's match against Niger due to passport issues.

The Black Stars forward used the opportunity to meet with the spiritual leader of the Ghanaian Muslim community at his residence in Fadama, the neighborhood where Paintsil first developed his football skills.

During the visit, the Los Angeles Galaxy star announced his plans to renovate the Fadama Astroturf as a way of giving back to the community that shaped his early career.

"It was an honor to pay a courtesy call on His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, with my friends and team to initiate the renovation of the Fadama Astroturf, where my football journey began," Paintsil shared on his social media pages.

"An opportunity to honor my roots and empower the next generation of players from the community."

Paintsil, who has made a strong start to his career in Major League Soccer (MLS) with eight goals and seven assists in 24 matches, is expected to return to the United States in the coming weeks to rejoin LA Galaxy for the critical end of the season.
