A security expert George Dosoo Doyen has urged Ghanaians to be "inquisitive", saying it is one of  the precautionary measures on personal security.

Doyen, who is the coordinator for Doyen's Leverage, says it is about time the Ghanaians adopted protectiveness in their daily outings.

At a security and safety awareness training under its flagship "Security Awareness Program"(SAP) at the office of the National Peace Council, Doyen painted a gloomy picture about the growing insecurity in the country, which he says can be reduced if people show concern about some daily happenings in their communities.

"The new generation of Ghanaians must be inquisitive, always be eager to find out more," he said.

"A typical Ghanaian will go to a place, see a bag under a chair will just sit down without finding out what is in under the chair but it doesn't work in this modern world.

"Let go deep and find out more, that is the only way we can conquer some of these problems to ensure personal security."

He also urged Ghanaians to share more information among themselves to enable early intervention and preventative work, for safeguarding and promoting welfare and for wider public protection.

In an extensive discussion with participants on the security awareness series, which was held on the 5th of July, Doyen touched on dangers involved in  Ghanaians youngsters moving to Asian countries for jobs, urging parents not to allow their wards to be taken into slavery due to poverty.

He enumerated ways and strategies by which Ghanaian can be proactive in determining danger and neutralise it.
He also urged Government to do more in engaging with the country's youth to ensure people do not run out of the country for non-existent greener pastures.

SAP is a free practical safety and security educational program designed for citizens to develop expertise to identify threats, adhere to safety precautions and make them less vulnerable to criminal activities and operations.

The meeting with the peace council was one of a series being embarked on by Doyen Leverage in an aim to create security awareness campaign across the country.

Doyen’s Leverage (DL), is a law enforcement and intelligence training Institute. It launched the SAP program on the 2nd February 2019.
