Fortuna Dusseldorf's Ghanaian defender, Kasim Nuhu has expressed delight at the prospect of playing football again but admits it will be odd without fans in attendance.

The Black Stars rare guard is one of five Ghanaians plying their trades in the German top flight who could be back in action this weekend as the Bundesliga becomes the first top flight league to return after a long break following the outbreak of the coronavirus global pandemic.

Germany have put in place a series of measures that include separate arrival of teams, no handshakes, social distancing inside the dressing and on the bench among several protocols as football resumes.

And looking forward to the return of football, Nuhu said he is keen return to the pitch even though one of his conditions does not go down well with him.

“It is very exciting to play again but one painful thing is that football is always better with fans’’, the Ghanaian international told TV3 in an Instagram Live interview.

‘‘Playing behind closed doors will affect some of us because we have always played in front of our amazing fans.

“We are also battling relegation and we need our fans to cheer us up but we also have to understand the circumstances’’, he added.

For Nuhu, the opportunity to play again is also an opportunity to become better in a league he has struggled to cope with since his arrival from Switzerland.

“It hasn’t been easy for me since I came from Switzerland to Hoffenheim. They bought me at a huge price, which I haven’t been able to repay them with a performance that I like,” he said.

“I got injured during my first few games and was out for 2 months and after returning, I wasn’t getting enough playing time so I decided to go on loan at Fortuna Düsseldorf in order to get more playing time but I got injured again.

“So, coming to Germany has been too hard for me in terms of injuries. It has not allowed me to play to the level I was in Switzerland but as time goes on, I know I will get my rhythm again and make it in the Bundesliga.” he concluded.
