In an unusual world of club football there are few rivalry games that mean more to a group of people than Kumasi Asante Kotoko clashing Accra Hearts of Oak.

When Ghana's big two collide, there isn't a club fixture like it anywhere in Africa.

Hearts are going into the first Super Clash of the season away against Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday under intense pressure to win after they drew their last league game 1-1 against Bechem united.

Both teams have had inconsistent start to the season with the Warriors coming home with a 2-0 away win from the difficult Malik Jabir park Wa against the Northern Blues which makes the tie very interesting.

As with most editions of this great matchup, an extensive narrative underpins the action on the pitch.

Will Henry Wellington and his assistant be given their marching orders now or at end of first round should them lose ? After all, a loss to their biggest rivals on Sunday would drop the phobians to the threaten zone.

In this iteration of Super Clash the game means much more in the scheme of things to one side then it does to the other side.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko are also in a difficult situation when it comes to their current standing in GhPl.
They’re currently 4th on the log, 3 points above their bitterest rivals Hearts placed 11th on the table.  Playing at home make this game a necessity for the Porcupines.

Anything less than three points would be a disappointment for Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and his lads. It could make things more difficult when it comes to their attempt at climbing towards the top of the Ghanaian top flight.

Stars to watch in the big game

Winful Cobbinah yet to fulfill.(Hearts).

He has not being himself since he returned from his European trials. When you have such an experience and pedigree, he needs to produce in big games. He has to do a lot more to really fulfill expectations.

Sadick Adamz back from injury.(Kotoko)

It's really a big game, no words can do it justice than to have a talented and experience striker who has seen it all in Super Clash games. This is the most important game in the GhPl. Kotoko need to risk and win it to keep their title hunt this season...

This game holds with it massive implications for both sides. A Super Clash is always fun, but a clash that holds with it implications of this nature is all the more enjoyable.

Both managers have come under severe criticism from their fans to the buildup to the game.

This cracker promises to be a tasty affair on the touchline as well as the pitch.

When it comes to tactics both sides are looking like they’ll deploy a similar variation of a 4-4-2 system, at least on paper.
