Kumasi Asante Kotoko aim for the top despite yet another injury to Salifu Mudasiru as Aduana and Medeama face of in Yahaya Mohammed’s Dormaa. Will Berekum Chelsea slip at the fearsome Nana Gyeabour Park in the BA derby?

We’ve got a full weekend of Premier League action ahead, with things still wide open at both ends of the table.

After what transpired at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend there can be only one conclusion that Ghanaians love their football and the passion has been reignited across all the league centres.

Here, we break down the upcoming games over the next few days, giving you a taste of what to expect.

ASANTE KOTOKO  vs  LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS PREVIEW

This matchup is set up nicely after both teams won by the same scoreline on the road against weightier opponents in last weekend game actions. Kotoko come into this game with a lot of issues, which includes amongst others, the injury to star midfielder Mudasiru, the Yacouba wahala and now what seems like the Blay effect with the latter’s parent club insisting they would want to cash in on the defensive midfielder if Kotoko fails to agree on their terms for the player.

Be that as it may, trust the experience Maxwell Konadu to lead the porcupine warriors well prepared for this encounter.

Moreover, Liberty Professionals are a tricky side whenever they play on the road picking up 7 points from a maximum 9 and scoring 4 goals and just conceding 2 in the process. The fact is, the scientific soccer lads are only second to league leaders Berekum Chelsea on the away ladder. Star midfielder Eric Kyei Baffour and his team will want to make the host pay duly as they play behind closed doors.

PREDICTION

Liberty have not won at Kumasi since 2012 so that is against them. The porcupine warriors have won their last two games and of course, Kotoko have picked their form at home.

This should be a very close game, but we are going for the home win and we think it would be a narrow one. Kotoko have a lot of confidence at home and pace in their team and that could just be too much for this travelling Liberty side.

ADUANA STARS  vs  MEDEAMA PREVIEW

The Agyemang Badu Park has been nothing short of a fortress for Aduana this season. With the host also never losing in h2h encounters here, the Medeama faithful are left with absolutely no reason to have their hopes up.

The host and their guests are level on 13 points each with Aduana in 2nd place with a goal more scored after both sides conceding three goals in the process. Both teams are on fine form, especially at the offensive front, it’s expected that the game would turn into a goal-fest. Aduana had stolen a point at Berekum in the previous round away, with a scoreline of 1-1. The draw came as a shock as Berekum Chelsea have been marvellous so far.

Elsewhere, Medeama were at home to Ashanti Gold, and defeated them by a lone goal. As mentioned earlier, both teams have been scoring for fun in the last several match-days. It’s a straight who is who encounter as Yahaya Mohammed meets up with Prince Opoku Agyemang.

PREDICTION

Medeama have never won at Dormaa Ahenkro and I expect that to continue. However, full time draw is a likely outcome as the visitors have been defensively solid. But if any team is to get a win it will definitely be the Aduana boys.

DREAMS FC   vs   HEARTS OF OAK

The Theatre of Dreams is the stadium of attraction as Dreams FC play host to wounded Hearts of Oak. Surprisingly both teams lost by same scoreline, 2-1 in the last weekend encounter. Will it be an escape or a double agony?

Hearts are currently in trouble, they have lost three matches out of 6 and drawn one.

Dreams will try their best at home to not let this fixture affect their rhythm. However, Coach Odoom’s Hearts know just how important this match is if they are harbouring any hopes of being a genuine title contender.

By all means, a cracker of a contest is expected, with goals from both sides.

The ‘still believe’ lads have been quite on form at home this season, dropping just two points at home so far. That notwithstanding, Phobia’s star attacker Joseph Esso who is back from injury is likely to pair with Daniel Afriyie upfront and this could be disastrous for Dreams especially with the kind of quality midfielders Hearts of Oak possess within their ranks.

PREDICTION

The last time the two teams met at Dawu, it was the host who emerged victorious. That Hearts team have undergone a lot of changes and we expect Dreams to suffer at their home grounds. Hearts are expected to win this encounter even though it’s going to be a hard fought battle.

ALL OTHER LEAGUE CENTRES

At the Arkoon Park in Tarkwa Legon Cities travel to face Karela. This matchup will be too close to call. Full time draw is imminent. Elsewhere, Inter Allies welcomes King Faisal and with the sluggish display so far from the Accra team we will not be surprised if King Faisal walk away with all maximum points for the very first time in the league.

We expect Elmina Sharks to beat Eleven Wonders handsomely at the Ndoum Park this Saturday. With star defender Issaka Mohammed ensuring that they keep a clean sheet. Also, we anticipate, league leaders Berekum Chelsea to continue their fantastic away form to beat Bechem at the Nana Gyeabour Park.

Last but not least, the miners will be the overwhelming favourites as they play host to Dwarfs and we expect Olympics to surprise WAFA at home.
