German-born defender with Ghanaian descent  Gideon Jung says that he is not ditching his  relegated German Bundesliga side Greuther Fürth.

Their relegation to the Bundesliga has been confirmed but the defender cum midfielder says  he will stay and play  for the team.

Jung had been injured all season with a meniscus injury and could not help his side as they  battled relegation and only started playing on match day 30 when the ship had sailed.

As far as his future is concerned, Jung still sees himself with the Mittelfranken despite relegation and wants to play in the 2nd Bundesliga. He now wants to use the time for this: "I would be happy if I could return the trust placed in me in the new season and want to prepare as best as possible." The ex-Hamburger is contractually bound to Fürth until 2023.

The brief appearance against Hoffenheim was followed by two more substitutions. Overall, the 27-year-old is regaining more and more confidence in his body, but he doesn't feel 100 percent yet, as he explained to kicker : "I need a little more to last 90 minutes, I feel in it But training is getting better and better.”

Of course, he is happy about the return: “After the long break, the coach’s confidence does me good to be able to get into a tight game, even for just a few minutes.” The main thing is that he continues works on his fitness level. According to his own statement, the knee is definitely free of symptoms again.

On the last two matchdays of this season, Jung could therefore gain more minutes.

Fürth has already been relegated, so head coach Stefan Leitl could certainly give him more game time when on Saturday afternoon (3:30 p.m.) Borussia Dortmund will be the next opponent.

On the last day of the game of the season, the cloverleaves have to play at FC Augsburg (May 14, 3:30 p.m.).
