Former Ghanaian youth International Gideon Mensah has signed for Swedish Allsvenskan side Varbergs BolS FC on a permanent deal.

The former Right to Dream Academy center back had been farmed out on loan by his parent club FC Nordsjaelland in August this year having joined the Danish side in 2019.

But the loan deal has been converted into a permanent deal after both teams agreed terms.

Mensah has signed with his new side until the summer of the year 2024.

“Varbergs Bois and the Gideon Mensah loaned from FC Nordsjælland have agreed on a contract that will make Gideon a Bois player for the next three seasons”, a statement from the club read.

Speaking after the deal was completed, Varbergs BoIS FC Joakim Persson said that he has the qualities to be a top player in the future.

"We've gotten to know him for a while and it feels like a pretty safe card. Gideon has a good longer game, is physically strong, has the speed, and is good on the head”, the gaffer said as quoted by the club's official website

“He has all the attributes that I think a young promising midfielder should have and is an extremely talented player.

“He has also blended in nicely and thrives well in the team”, the coach added.

The Ghanaian center back played predominantly in the FC Nordsjaelland U-19 in team where he featured 11 times.

Mensah was  part of the Ghana’s U-17 team that reached the quarter final stage of the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
