Gifty Twum-Ampofo tackles educational infrastructure in her constituency

Member of Parliament for the Abuakwa North constituency in the Eastern Region, Gifty Twum-Ampofo has indicated her outfit is putting up measures to fix educational infrastructure in the area.

According to her, "We have just a little over five percent (5%) educational infrastructure deficit in Abuakwa North. Osiem Islamic JHS was brought about by the community and Government is making progress to fix their infrastructure situation this year".

The MP made this known when she visited some schools in the constituency as part of the "My First Day At School" annual program initiated by the Government.

She presented educational materials such as books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners in clear bags, and school uniforms together with drinks and biscuits to KG 1 and basic 1 pupils.

According to her, this will motivate the new entrants to be punctual in school.

She admonished the teachers to make the new entrants feel happy at their new place.

Madam Abena Gyamerah, the Municipal Education Director of Abuakwa North, who was part of the tour, emphasized that corporal punishment remains abolished by Ghana Education Service (GES) and teachers must find alternative ways of punishing pupils according to GES standards.

She thanked the Akufo-Addo led Government through the Member of Parliament, Gifty Twum-Ampofo, for bringing massive development and progress in education in the enclave.

She appealed to the government to provide more infrastructure to end the shift system associated with Cocoa Research Institute Municipal Assembly Basic School in Abuakwa North.
