The government has announced plans to deploy 5,000 graduates in agriculture and veterinary science to support its flagship Feed Ghana Programme across the country.
Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang disclosed this during the 2025 Asogli Yam Festival in the Volta Region on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
She explained that the initiative forms part of government efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector and ensure food security under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
“This year, under the Ministry of Agriculture, the Feed Ghana Programme is being rolled out with tangible support, including significant budget allocations for 2025,” the Vice President said. “Supporting programmes like the Vegetable Development Project and the renowned ‘Nkokɔ Nkititi’ poultry initiative are also key components.”
She added that the 5,000 graduates would be deployed nationwide, including to the Volta Region, to work closely with farmers. Their roles will include providing modern extension services, introducing improved farming techniques, and bridging the gap between research and field practice.
The initiative aims to accelerate Ghana’s agricultural transformation, enhance food security, create sustainable jobs, and drive economic growth by reducing import dependence while boosting local production and exports.
