Gov't should support residents of Appiatse, they are suffering – Akwasi Nsiah pleads
18th September 2023
Akwasi Nsiah, a broadcaster with the Multimedia Group, is pleading with the government and the public for help in providing aid to the victims of the tragic Appiatse explosion.
The community is still grasping with the fallout from the devastating incident that occurred on January 20, 2022, when a vehicle carrying mining explosives crashed, starting a devastating fire that took the lives of some 13 people.
The Appiatse residents are in a desperate condition, and Akwasi Nsiah, who was responding to the worries on the Badwam show after he [Akwasi] and his crew visited the community, emphasized the urgent need for relief.
"Appiatse residents are suffering, the people are really going through hardships," he said, disclosing that even a young man of 20 years old cannot eat any solid food right now and has to rely on fruit as a means of existence because of a stomach condition he sustained from the explosion.
The outspoken broadcaster made the argument that the victims would have received fair compensation if the accident had happened somewhere else in the world, but they have instead been ignored and are now having trouble finding enough food to eat.
He said, "If this disaster had happened abroad, the Appiatse victims would have been billionaires by now."
He urged Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, to act quickly in the situation.
Akwasi further urged the Appiatse relief committee to mobilize all available resources to help the victims of the tragic explosion as soon as possible.
