GPL: Hearts of Oak seek home revival against Basake Holy Stars
7th March 2026
Accra Hearts of Oak will be aiming to end a frustrating run at home when they host Basake Holy Stars F.C. in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Phobians currently sit third on the league table with 40 points, trailing leaders Medeama SC, who have 46 points, and second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars F.C. on 45 points.
Despite their strong position in the standings, Hearts of Oak have struggled to secure victories at home in recent weeks. The club has failed to win their last three league matches at the Legon venue against teams that had not recorded an away victory before facing them.
Those results include three goalless draws against Dreams F.C., Bechem United F.C. and Berekum Chelsea F.C..
Basake Holy Stars, meanwhile, head into the encounter in ninth place with 32 points but will also be looking to improve their form away from home. The side are still searching for their first away victory of the season and have managed just one point from their last five matches on the road.
Their recent away results include a 1-1 draw with Medeama and defeats to Dreams FC, Techiman Eleven Wonders F.C., Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold Stars.
Sunday’s clash therefore presents an intriguing contest, with Hearts eager to revive their home form while Basake Holy Stars hope to finally secure their first away win of the campaign.
With crucial points at stake in the race for the title and mid-table stability, both teams will be determined to deliver a strong performance at the University of Ghana Stadium.
