Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim has blamed complacency for the 2-1 defeat his team suffered at the hands of Dream FC in the finals of the G8 tournament on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The Phobians came into the game as overwhelming favorites against the relatively inexperienced Premier League newcomers and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring on the 12th minute through Daniel Kordie.

However Dreams proved that they were no pushovers as they grabbed an equalizer few minutes later scored by Razak Cromwell.

Skipper Leornard Owusu converted a penalty in the 60th minute to hand Dreams the trophy after Benjamin Mensah brought down Eric Gawu in the box.

Speaking to reporters after the match, a frustrated Samudeen bemoaned ‘over excitement’ after taking the lead cost them the game and ultimately the trophy.

“We got carried away, we were over excited when we scored the goal and they took us by surprise. We relaxed after scoring the first goal and we have only ourselves to blame”
