Heroic final act: Enoch Abram drowns while saving two children at Budumburam beach
7th January 2026
Tragedy struck at Budumburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region when Enoch Abram, a Master Guide of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, lost his life in a selfless attempt to save two drowning children during a beach outing.
The incident occurred during a district-organised beach excursion. Mr Abram was spending time with friends from a neighbouring district when the emergency unfolded.
Upon noticing two children being swept away by strong ocean currents, he did not hesitate.
With remarkable courage, he plunged into the water and managed to rescue both children from imminent danger.
However, in the process of ensuring their safety, Abram himself became overwhelmed by the current and drowned.
Witnesses say his body was discovered after about 30 to 40 minutes, following intense prayers by those present. Although a faint pulse was detected, all efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.
He was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was sadly pronounced dead on arrival.
Enoch Abram’s heroic sacrifice has left the church community and residents of Budumburam in deep mourning. He is being remembered as a devoted servant of God whose final moments embodied the values of courage, selflessness, and love for others.
