High Court dismisses Suhum election petition, affirms NPP MP Frank Asiedu Bekoe’s victory
18th December 2025
The High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition challenging the declaration of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, as the winner of the 2024 parliamentary election.
In a judgment delivered on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the court, presided over by Justice George Krofa Addae, held that the petition filed by Kwadjo Asante, an independent candidate in the election, was without merit.
The court found that the petitioner failed to present credible evidence to substantiate his claims. Justice Addae noted that none of the witnesses called by Asante during the trial served as his polling agents on election day, thereby weakening the evidential basis of the petition.
Additionally, the court ruled that the petitioner was unable to prove allegations that any of his supporters were prevented from voting at polling stations within the constituency.
The judge further observed that all the petitioner’s agents across the 166 polling stations in the Suhum Constituency signed the official pink sheets without registering any protest, an indication that the conduct of the election was accepted at the time.
Consequently, the court dismissed the petition in its entirety and awarded costs of GH¢200,000 against the petitioner.
