Former President Jerry John Rawlings has despicably embarrassed the outgoing Mayor of Accra, Alfred Okoe Vandapuije whose attempt to accompany the former President was rather met with a swift disapproval.

The incident which was captured on video,  saw the former president who was briskly walking to the Parliament house being approached by Okoe Vandapuije with greetings but was quickly stopped by the ex-president when he attempted to continue walking with him.

The video which has since gone viral captured the outgoing mayor who was left with an embarrassing look attempted to smile but ended up with a sheepish look.

This comes as a backdrop of speculations of a rift between the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and top party officials.

Some have attributed the NDC's defeat at the recently held December 7 elections to Rawling's indifference towards the course of his party's progress.
