Thomas Partey has issued a rallying cry to his Atletico Madrid teammates less than 24 hours after their UEFA Super Cup win over Real Madrid  on Wednesday evening.

The 25 year old played a super sub role as the Rojiblancos defeated their city rivals 4-2 after extra time.

The Ghanaian international has turned his attention back to the forthcoming season and has urged his side to challenge FC Barcelona and Real Madrid for the Spanish La Liga title.

"Of course Atletico Madrid is one of the biggest clubs and we all know we are capable of doing a lot of greater things," he told Omasports TV

"We hope this season will be greater."

Atleti’s Super Cup success means that Partey becomes the first Ghanaian in history to win the coveted prize.
