Ace Ghanaian hiplife artiste, Michael Kwabena Okyere Darko, popularly called Obrafour, said he no longer wants to be called by ‘Obrafour’ as his stage name.

The veteran rapper who has been known by that name since he rose to fame in 1999, said he has dropped it.

According to rapper, he now wants to be known only as Rap Sofo.

Rap Sofo, however, is not a new name. it used to be part of the name Obrafour, pronounced as “Obrafour, Ghana Rap Sofo”.

He explained that there was a spiritual backing for his new choice of stage name.

“I don’t know. There is something pushing me. I have said that I wouldn’t want to do anything in my own will and accord but wait to hear the voice of God,” Rap Sofo said.

He added that Sofo which means Pastor in Twi, has had an impact on him since he added that to his former name Obrafour.

Explaining why he finally wants to stick to Rap Sofo, the rapper revealed that he had chosen Obrafour which means executioner, over Rap Sofo at the start of his career to show his quest sanitise Hiplife music.

But now, he has accomplished his mission and at the stage he is now, he only wants to be known as Rap Sofo.

Obrafour's change of name is no surprise to many people who know the course he is charting now.

Like his former colleague Lord Kenya, the musician has revealed that he has had a calling from God to be his worker - a pastor.

So, it is possible that the change of his stage name from Obrafour to Rap Sofo, is a way of getting closer to "work with God".
