Egyptian national team head coach Hector Cuper has stated that he does not care "any statements" Ghanaians make ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier match between Ghana and Egypt.

Speaking at a press conference in Egypt, the former Inter Milan coach emphasised his teams high spirits towards the game insisting that The Pharoahs were going for the kill regardless of the chaos surrounding the encounter.

The Argentine who spoke with an aura of optimism stated that he was confident in his players and does not care about "any statement made by the Ghanaians"

"Injuries make me sad but I trust the substitutes. I believe in the team as a whole, not individuals. I don't care about any statement made by the Ghanaians," he said.

There have been speculations of a planned attack on Ghana's Israeli coach Avram Grant by Egyptian extremist fans who do not want Israeli's in their country with Egyptian football authorities reportedly coming out to guarantee Grant's safety in Alexandria.

Reports had emerged that the Egyptians had threatened to "harass and abuse" the Israeli who also holds a Polish passport.

Just as the speculations seemed to have quietened down, Ghana's captain and goal poacher Asamoah Gyan hinted at his unavailability for the game owing to an injury he has sustained.

The striker's announcement sparked a series of tweets by Egyptian fans who were responding to the news on Ghanaian sports journalist Gary Al Smith's twitter timeline in excitement over Gyan's  inevitable sit-out during the game. A dimension to the story ghanaguardian.com reported.

In the wake of all these developments, Mr Cuper is keen on focusing on the three points up for grabs in the titanic encounter.

"I trust my squad and we are confident in our abilities to win," he said.

Reminiscing on the 6-1 thrashing the Pharoahs received at the hands of the Black Stars  during the 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi, the former Argentine footballer now manager admitted the scoreline was an exceptional result which rarely happens in football.

"Ghana is a big team but the 6-1 result is exceptional and rarely happens in football,"

Egypt has had a good start to the World Cup qualifiers urging out Congo away at their home turf while Ghana succumbed to a disappointing goalless draw at home with Uganda.

The Pharaohs are leading Group E with three points, two ahead of second-placed Ghana.

The clash comes off on 13 November in Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
