British High Commissioner to Ghana has refuted claims that he had a hand in the club record transfer move of Ghanaian midfielder Andre Ayew.

The Ghanaian international sealed the switch from Swansea City to West Ham United after both clubs agreed on a fee of £20.5M on Monday.

Jon Benjamin who is known to be a friend of the Ayews has told Daily Graphic that he had no hand in the transfer despite being a staunch supporter of the East London club.

“Of course you saw me with them (Andre Ayew and Abedi Pele) because I know them but I play no part in any football deal,” he told Daily Graphic

“But of course I had nothing to do with it,” the West Ham United supporter added.

Andre Ayew starts his second Premier League spell with new club West Ham at Chelsea on Saturday 13th August.

The player scored against the same team [Chelsea] in his first EPL match last season with Swansea City.
