News was rife on Tuesday 3rd September 2019, about foreign players of the Black Meteors been asked by the Ministry of Youth and Sports to buy their own plane tickets for the upcoming qualifier against Algeria since they are cash strapped.

Kwabena Owusu who is a member of the team and plies his trade for Cordoba says he has not been asked to finance his own ticket for the trip.

Speaking in an interview with Accra based Asempa fm, the Black Stars player revealed he has been handed a call up and Alex Asante wanted to purchase his ticket for me but due to some club commitments he informed him to be pateient since he may not be available for the first leg but will travel for the second fixture away.

“I have been handed a call up but I have a problem with my work permit so I talked to the leadership of the team that I may not make the trip because I must resolve the issue here before coming but I may not play the first leg

Any time my ticket is ready I will come and play the second leg I may arrive in Ghana on Thursday,Friday or Saturday.

When quizzed whether it was added to the invitation that he must purchase his own ticket the striker denied having knowledge of such news.

“I have not been asked to purchase my own ticket even Alex wanted to purchase the tickets for me but I told him to be patient” he said.
