Newly-signed Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Mensah has insisted that he does not intend to compete with the goalkeepers already at the club for a first team place after signing a two-year contract with the club.

Speaking to Kumasi-based Ashh FM, the former New Edubiase goalkeeper claimed he has joined the Phobians with the intention to contribute his quota to the course of the Accra-based side and not to compete with the goalkeepers in the team.

"I did not come to Hearts of Oak to compete with the goalkeepers over there. They are not my opponents, they are my colleagues so I have not gone there to compete because they are great goalkeepers. The only form of competition I will be engaged in is competing with the club's rival teams. I am only going there to contribute what I have." he insisted

The 27 year old emphasised that he will add his skill to the success of the team if the opportunity presents itself.

"If God permits and I get the chance I will contribute my quota to Accra Hearts of Oak. I am not going there to compete." he emphasised

Ben Mensah who was the number one shot stopper for the relegated New Edubiase admitted that playing for a club of Hearts of Oak's status comes with great pressure but is ready to deal with that.

"Football is all about pressure so if you cannot deal with that you cannot play football. Moreover, once things get better for the club all the pressure will be gone."

He urged fans of the club to back the club with prayers and troop to match venues to support the club as that will be a motivational factor for the players to deliver.
