Slip Entertainment boss and Programs Director of Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey has revealed that he turned down the Deputy Ministerial position for Tourism, Arts and Culture when he was offered the position.

Speaking on the Rymthz A-Z show on Joy FM with Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye, he admitted that his name came up top of the list of people who were being considered for, for the position.

However, he revealed a ranking member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) contacted him after he showed his disinterest to find the reason behind his lack of interest in taking up the post.

According to Mark, serving in that position would mar his political ambitions.

“My political ambitions would not be destroyed by the creative arts…. anytime someone from our space takes up a position; the agenda is to bring him down and I don’t want people to think that all I can do is creative arts. Don’t box me into creative arts when I can do other things,” he said.

The producer explained that he would rather start from the beginning in some other ministerial area and gradually make his way to the top than serve under the Creative Arts Ministry.

Mr Mantey is however in support of Kwadwo Antwi as the Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts to work hand in hand with Catherine Afeku; the Minister-designate.
