Ghanaian boxer Abdul Wahid Omar has insisted he won his fight against Argentine Aberto Ezequiel Melian in the men's 56kg bout on Thursday night.

The Ghanaian lost the fight 29-28, 29-28, 29-28 but claims he was cheated. Abdul Wahid acknowledged his opponent was a good boxer but insists the result should have gone his way emphasising that even the supporters and the crowd present know who he won the fight.

“I fought with a good boxer. In Argentina, he is a good boxer and in the world ranking.

“I fought him and after three rounds they give the win to him. I thought I won the fight but it’s the decision of the judges.

“I think I did my best. I worked very hard. I know I won it. Even the crowd and the supporters know that I won the fight.

“But I don’t know. I just give thanks to almighty Allah.”

Abdul Wahid Omar was the only boxer representing Ghana at the games and now the fourth Ghanaian athlete out of the representing 16 athletes.
