Flagbearer aspirant of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) , Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah, has said he won't doubt if the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) wins an election if it was held today.

The Former Minister of Trades and Industry who was speaking during an interview on Accra based radio station, admitted that it will be possible for the NPP to retain power should an election be conducted in the country today.

Dr. Spio Garbrah indicated that it is only a year since the NPP won elections in the country therefore the people who voted for them are anticipating that they live up to expectation and fulfill promises they made in the run up to the 2016 elections which made them come to power.

He however stated that it will only be after the 4 year term of the NPP is over that the true reflection of the voters will be manifested in the polls.

His comments comes after a survey conducted by the Head of Political Science Department of the University of Ghana suggested that If elections were held late last year the governing New Patriotic Party will be retained in office.

Dr Bossman Asare said of the 5000 respondents interviewed, 56% of them voted for the NPP and 36% for the NDC in the 2016 elections which means there is 3.3% reduction of votes a year after the NPP reign and a similar reduction in votes as well for the NDC.
