Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has stated that nothing will make him kneel before the revered Overlord of Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to the veteran journalist, although he has utmost respect for the throne and the Asantehene, there’ll be no justification for him to ever kneel before him.

Abdul Malik Kweku Baako's comment was in reaction to news that some top executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who trooped to the Manhyia Palace to have a word with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II last week, had no choice than to kneel and beg after the angry King asked them to leave his Palace.

The NPP executives were led by acting General Secretary, John Boadu – who was in the region to campaign – Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, party Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization, Kwabena Senkyire.

But speaking on Peace FM Wednesday, Mr. Baako, who said he has great respect for the Asantehene whom he describes as a wise person, however said he’ll never go to the extent of going on his knees before him.

“This country is a Republic, those who chose to pacify the the Asantehene Otumfuor by kneeling down, they’re entitled to that, that was their own choice. Kweku Baako would’t do that, of cause not…what are you talking about? I won’t do that! I’m not a coward and I speak my mind. Anybody out there is entitled to disagree with me, but I’ll speak my mind.”
