A former chairman of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), George Haldane Lutterodt has denied being the manager of Junior Olympic 800 metres champion, Martha Bissah, as reported by sections of the media.

Mr Lutterodt told the Graphic Sports that although he was a benefactor to the 18-year-old athlete and other athletes across the continent because of his love for the sport he had no intentions of managing her.

“I am a staunch sports fan and advocate, so I aid a lot of young talents, including Martha, who I see as a bigger prospect for the country”, he explained.

The veteran sports administator recently secured a Norfolk University scholarship for Martha and declared that other young talents would soon benefit from his gesture.

Meanwhile, the former athletics chief has bemoaned Ghana’s performance at the ongoing Olympic in Rio, Brazil.

He chided the GAA for saying that Ghana was at the Olympic to better the times of the athletes.

“We don’t go to the Olympics just to improve the time of an athlete, we go there to win a medal, it is a huge platform and not a joke, its a shame,” he lamented.
