African music superstar, Wizkid, has debunked rumours that he is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2018 World cup to be staged in Russia.

Earlier, news went rife that Wizkid has been named as one of the performing acts who will be performing the official world cup theme alongside American actor/rapper, Will Smith, Nicky Jam and Era Istrefi.

However, responding to a tweet by a fan who asked whether the news was indeed true, the multiple award winning artiste who has had successful sold out concerts across the world responded in the negative.

The fan asked; "@wizkidayo is it true that your performing today at the FIFA worldcup opening ceremony" then he responded "Nah fam. But good luck to our boys"
