Injured and absent players to boost Black Stars for AFCON
24th March 2019
Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah’s options will be significantly bolstered as half a dozen of his regular players are all set to return to the fold ahead of the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
Skipper Asamoah Gyan, Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey and Baba Rahman lead the names of the players who are expected to gatecrash Appiah’s final squad.
Gyan has struggled all season to make an impact in Turkey due to recurring injuries, but Ghana’s all-time top scorer will be eyeing a quick return to form before Appiah submits his final list.
Amartey has been unavailable since October 2018 when he suffered a broken leg. However the Leicester City star is making 'huge' progress in the treatment room ahead of March return date.
Meanwhile Baba Rahman seems to have rediscovered his mojo since completing a loan switch to French Ligue 1 side Stade Reims.
The left-back has already delivered a string of outstanding performances reminiscent of his former self that is certain to capture the attention of the Ghana boss.
Majeed Waris and Colombus crew duo Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah are the other three who are also expected to link back up with the squad.
