Inter’s Dutch international central defender Stefan de Vrij has expressed his satisfaction after taming Ghanaian international Kevin Prince Boateng in the goalless Serie A draw against Sassuolo.

Sassuolo threatened the hosts on few occasions and could have gone ahead in the 55th minute through Boateng but goalkeeper Samir Handanovic reacted quickly to parry away the Ghanaian headed effort.

Speaking to reporters after the match, De Vrij was happy come out of the Boateng duel unscathed.

“You do not only defend with your defense, everything starts with what happens in front. But it is nice for us defenders not to concede that many goals.”

“Boateng is very good in finding space, if you do not anticipate this you leave a lot of room behind the defensive line. You have to have a good communication with your teammates and I think we did pretty OK tonight.”
