One of the biggest cricket event, IPL 2019 has started in the country. To cash in the months-long sports event and gain the allegedly lost viewership due to new tariff rules, DTH providers have reportedly started offering sports channels for free.
According to TelecomTalk, both Airtel Digital TV and Tata Sky are offering a host of sports channels for free. It is important to state here that the offer is valid for a limited period and subscribers will have to pay for the channels once the offer ends.
The report suggests that the Tata Sky users have received a message about the free channels being offered. These include Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada, and Start Sports 1 Bangla.

The message reads that the users can view these channels for free from March 23 to May 19. It is further reported that users across the regional circles can enjoy the offer.

Similarly, Airtel Digital TV is also reported to offer free preview channels for both existing and new users. Initially, the company is said to have announced complementary Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 1 Hindi till May 19, 2019 for new users.

Later, it is reported to expand the offer for existing users as well who will get sports channels - Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star, Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star, Sports 1 Kannada and Star Sports 1 Bangla for free.

The TelecomTalk also states that another DTH provider - D2h has announced new language feeds for Star Sports 2. This takes the total language feed to five languages for Star Sports 2 and include Hindi, English, Tamil, Kannada and Bangla.
