Executive Council Member and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Berekum Chelsea, Nana Oduro Sarfo says that the punishment meted out to Ashantigold and Inter Allies for their involvement in match fixing and manipulation should be enough deterrent for all other teams.

He says that it is only witches and wizards who will not advise themselves and still continue to meddle in match fixing and other related crimes.

The Disciplinary  Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday  16th May,2022 announced  the verdict of  a ten month investigation into allegations of match fixing between Ashgold and Inter Allies at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium in the 2020/2021 season.

Ashhgold defeated Inter Allies who at the time had been relegated in their  match day 34 clash by a whooping 7-0 score line  with Inter Allies defender Hashmin Musah scoring two comical own goals.

After the match the defender revealed in an interview that he overheard  that the game will end 5-1 so he deliberately scored  the two own goals to foil the betting plot.

Both sides have since been demoted to the Division Two whiles they have also been fined various amounts of money.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, he stated that the verdict will serve as a warning to other teams.

"Anyone who is not deterred by this ruling to stay away from match manipulation is probably a witch or wizard."

"If AshGold has been demoted, how much more the likes of Berekum Chelsea, Elmina Sharks or Karela when they are caught in similar situation."

"Many people were happy with the verdict because it will serve as  deterrent to other clubs. Anyone who will repeat such acts is something else."
