Former Minister of Communications Dr Edward Omane Boamah has said he has voluntarily vacated his official residence, even though he had three months' grace period within which to do so.

According to him, he has also returned to the state his official vehicle which he used for more than two years and had the option of purchasing.

Dr Boamah told Joy FM's Nhyira Addo on the Super Morning Show on Monday 9th January that several of his colleague former ministers and appointees had done same.

He was speaking in connection with the controversy surrounding ex-president John Mahama’s official residence, which he had not vacated with reason that the new government had agreed that he could keep it as his retirement benefit.

The office of Mr Mahama on Monday issued a statement denying claims that he was deliberately refusing to vacate the official bungalow per the constitution. He explained that there was an agreement between his side of the transition and the new government's for him to keep the property as part of his retirement package as an ex-president.
