Jacob Zuma: "If Apartheid killers could get state funds, why shouldn't I?"

It appears former South African president, Jacob Zuma is having a wonderful time on social media already as he has continued to post video after video on his barely one week old twitter account.

You will recall that last week, we reported that the former South African president joined Twitter and immediately called out a fraudulent account that was defrauding citizens.

The fraudulent account deceived South Africans to send money to a bank account opened to support the former president in paying his legal fees as directed by a South African court.

While in office as the president of South Africa, Zuma was involved in a court case that saw him amount over US$1 million in legal fees, which the current government has continued to pay even after Zuma left office.

Not comfortable with the agreement, the opposition took the state and Zuma to court saying it is wrong for the country to continue paying for his personal legal fees for a criminal case against him while he was in office.

Last week, after the court ruling, Zuma was ordered to pay the legal fees himself and stopped the government from paying the fees.

A visibly unsatisfied Zuma took to his new found love – Twitter, to explain why he would not accept the court ruling and believe the state should continue footing his legal bill.

In a video message posted on Twitter account, Jacob Zuma spoke on how apartheid killers in the country continued to receive benefits why heroes like him are mistreated.

He said:

"I’m saying this because many leaders of the apartheid system – some of whom killed my colleagues – they were charged and there were quite a number of them… the state paid for their cases, not just one amount, very huge amounts. Paid by this very democratic state, that we all fought to bring about.

"But the very same state is saying, me, one of among those who fought this very democratic state, I must pay for myself. So apartheid killers they must be defended by the state… fighters of the democratic country, they must pay for themselves," said Zuma.

"I just thought I should make those comments for all to know how I feel."
