Management of the Black Meteors have sent eight players home after failing to meet the age limit. 

Coach Ibrahim Tanko invited twenty two (22) players to the national U-23 camp ahead of their preparations for the first phase of the upcoming qualifiers.

But according to Accra-based radio station, Happy FM, eight of the twenty-two players are above 23 years and have therefore been sent home.

Below are the list of the over aged players;

Ampem Dacosta - Inter Allies

Joseph Esso - Hearts Of Oak

Bright Enchill - Medeama SC

Cletus Nombilla - Dreams FC

Douglas Owusu-Ansah - Asante Kotoko

Toufic Mohammed - Star Madrid

Ibrahim Yaro - Medeama SC

Moro Salifu - Bechem United

The Meteors will host neighbours Togo on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in the first leg of the first round of CAF U-23 Championship qualifier.

Winner of the tie will move to the next stage of the qualifiers to face countries like Nigeria, Congo, Senegal and South Africa have all drawn bye for the second round.

Out of thirty countries lined up for the qualifiers, seven will join host Egypt for next year’s championship.

The first three teams from the competition in Egypt next year will represent Africa at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.

Ghana has not qualified for the Olympic games since the format for qualification to the quadrennial competition was changed.
