Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil has played a pivotal role in LA Galaxy’s march to the MLS Cup final, with the team edging Seattle Sounders 1-0 to clinch the Western Conference title.

Paintsil, who joined Galaxy this season from Belgian side Genk, has enjoyed a stellar campaign with 10 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances.

His form has carried into the playoffs, where he has contributed three goals and an assist.

While the game against Seattle proved difficult for the Ghanaian—completing one successful dribble and achieving 88% passing accuracy without a shot on target—his teammate Dejan Joveljic stepped up to score the match-winning goal in the 86th minute.

LA Galaxy now prepares to host the MLS Cup final against Eastern Conference champions New York Red Bulls on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

With home-field advantage, Galaxy will aim to secure their record-extending sixth MLS Cup title.

Paintsil also has the opportunity to join the ranks of Ghanaian MLS Cup winners, following in the footsteps of Jonathan Mensah and Harrison Afful, who lifted the trophy with Columbus Crew in 2020.
