Jude Michelle Korleh Makes History as KNUST’s Second Female SRC President
Jude Michelle N. Korleh has been elected the 66th President of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Students’ Representative Council (SRC) after defeating 15 other candidates in the 2026 SRC presidential election.
Her victory marks a significant milestone in the university’s history, making her only the second woman to lead the SRC after Yvonne Osei Adobea.
Jude Michelle, who was the sole female candidate in the highly contested race, secured a decisive victory by polling more than 6,000 votes ahead of her closest rival.
She will lead the SRC alongside Nana Kwame Oppong Antwi of the College of Engineering, who was elected as the new SRC Vice President.
The election attracted a competitive field of 16 candidates, including prominent contenders such as Kelvin Obeng Fosu, Forstell Eshun, and Nana Boateng Agyakum, all of whom mounted vigorous campaigns ahead of the polls.

Despite the keenly contested race, the election was characterised by a relatively low voter turnout. Observers at several polling centres reported significantly fewer students casting ballots compared to previous SRC elections, with many voting stations recording sparse attendance.
Nonetheless, Jude Michelle’s convincing victory signals a new chapter in KNUST’s student leadership and represents another milestone for female representation in the university’s highest student office.
She is expected to lead the SRC in advancing student welfare, strengthening engagement between the student body and university authorities, and championing initiatives that promote academic excellence and campus development.
