Kamaradini Mamudu's strike lifts Medeama to the top of Premier League with win over Legon Cities
15th September 2024
Medeama SC continued their strong start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Legon Cities FC on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
The reigning champions secured their second consecutive victory, thanks to a first-half goal from defender Kamaradini Mamudu.
Playing at the University of Ghana Stadium, Mamudu found the back of the net in the 18th minute, capitalizing on a close-range opportunity to give his side the lead.
His timely tap-in was the only goal of the match, but it was enough to ensure Medeama's dominance against the Royals on matchday two of the league.
Despite pressure from Legon Cities, Medeama’s defense stood firm, preserving their slim advantage and taking all three points.
With this win, the Mauve and Yellow ascended to the top of the Premier League standings, holding the top spot temporarily, with five other fixtures scheduled for Sunday, September 15.
Medeama SC, the 2022/23 Premier League champions, have maintained a perfect start to the new season.
This latest result follows their 1-0 triumph over Accra Lions in their season opener last weekend.
On the other hand, Legon Cities’ second straight defeat signals early trouble for the team, which now faces an uphill battle with 32 matches remaining.
