The contractor for the Kumasi Kejetia and Central Market Redevelopment project has disclosed that parking places were not provided drivers in the plan.

According to him, lorry terminals in the Kejetia project were only allocated for loading and offloading of passengers, adding that it would only accommodate some 180 cars.

The consultant to Contracta Engenheria Ltd, Mr Emmanuel Danso, said this when the Ashanti regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, toured the project site on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.

The contractor said the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly would have to find a holding bay for drivers to park their cars and wait for their turn to load in the lorry terminal when the project is completed.

Mr Osei-Mensah also said the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly was considering finding land in the metropolis to be developed into a holding bay for drivers as that has now become necessary.

He said not only transport unions will have an area to park their cars but traders will also sell at the market.
