Kevin Prince-Boateng tasted defeat on his Barcelona debut as the Catalans succumbed 2-0 in the first leg of their quarterfinal Copa del Rey tie against Sevilla on Wednesday night.

With Leo Messi and Sergio Busquets rested, Luis Suárez and Jordi Alba on the bench, Boateng was handed a start as centre forward just a day after his official presentation.

The Ghanaian international had a decent game until he was replaced by Luis Suarez in the 63rd minute.

Pablo Sarabia and Wissam Ben Yedder got the goals after the break as a much-changed Barca side were easily beaten in Seville.

The two sides will meet again in the second leg of this quarterfinal tie at Camp Nou next Wednesday.
