The Chief Executive Officer of the fashion brand, Nineteen 57, Kofi Okyere Darko is looking beyond just designing clothes; he has a dream of setting up a fashion school.

Kofi, who has successfully built the band with his wife Ophelia Crossland, has said that his aim in the near future is to see young ones and other individuals interested in the fashion trade get trained.

“We’re looking at having a school in the future. It’s part of the things we are looking at doing. We have the land already. We’re just looking for funding to get it done,” he told Frema Adunyame and Nana Tuffour on Citi TV’s ‘Upside Down’.

In terms of young people who need to be empowered, he said the school will be dedicated to training the youth, especially those on the streets.

Kofi Okyere Darko’s Nineteen 57 clothing line is one of the prominent fashion brands in Ghana.

He has, for the past years also, organised the annual Rhythms on Da Runway show, a platform that brings together music, fashion, poetry, and other works of arts.

When asked if fashion pays, Kofi answered in the affirmative. He said, “it is about the second or third most lucrative industry worldwide and it comes before oil and gas.”

Apart from being a fashion designer, KOD is a venerated broadcaster and a master of ceremonies.
