Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have parted ways with assistant trainer Akakpo Patron, Ghanagiardian has gathered.

The long serving assistant coach was relieved off his duties by the Kumasi based club on Wednesday as they seek to restrustructure their technical setup.

Multuple reports indicates that the Porcupine Warriors have already agreed terms with Karela United head coach Johnson Smith to replace Patron whose contract is due to run out in December this year.

However, those reports did not seem to indicate any threat to Akakpo's position as pressure keeps mounting on the club's management to get rid of trainer Kjetil Zachariassen.

Akakpo, a former West African Football Academy SC (WAFA) coach joined Kotoko in 2017 as assistant coach and has worked under Paa Kwesi Fabin, CK Akonnor and currently Kjetil Zachariassen.

He was also a member of the Kotoko playing body from 1991 to 1995.
