2nd March 2017
Six persons sustained serious machete wounds following a clash between two factions, Abudu and Andani in Kumasi over the management of a transport terminal Thursday.
The two groups are supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
A free-for-all fight broke out at the Tamale lorry station at Alabar in the Ashanti Region after some NPP supporters attempted to take over management of the station.
In an interview with Osei Kwadwo of Abusua FM, some of the victims disclosed that supporters of the Andani factions who are supporters of the NDC came to the lorry station with machete, weapons to take over the station.
The Abudu factions who are supporters of the NPP claimed they were in charge of the lorry station but were driven away by supporters of the NDC in 2009 when the party won the elections.
It took the intervention of the police to restore law and order.
The victims were sent to the Manhyia Government Hospital for treatment by the police.
