Ajax and Ghana midfielder Kudus Mohammed has returned to fitness and played his first match on Monday after a three month injury lay off.

Kudus played for the Ajax reserve side Jong Ajax in their 2-0 win over Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie on Monday night.

The 21 year old midfielder lasted 46 minutes for his side's reserve side and was taken away just after recess as his side eases him into action gradually.

The player sustained an injury during Ghana's  1-0 win over South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The creative midfielder got injured when Ghana faced South Africa in the last match of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

In the 10th minute, the Ajax midfielder signaled to the bench that he needed attention after an off the ball incident resulted in his injury.

After persistent treatment he was taken off in the 12th minute with Daniel Kofi Kyereh on as his replacement.

Since then he had not played for Ajax but Ghana nonetheless named him in the AFCON 2021 squad for the tournament and then Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac said the player will join the team but unsure when that will be.

His return will be a huge boost to any future Ghana coach as they play Nigeria in March in the 2022 World Cup play offs.
