President of the Ghana Football Association Kurt E.S Okraku has urged the Black Meteors to go for the ultimate as they depart fro the U-23 Afcon in Egypt.

He told the team to try and qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games as Ghana has not been at the quadrennial event since 2004.

Ghana has struggled and failed in the past to qualify for the Olympic games on several attempts.

President of the Association and his executive council members saw off the team at the Kotoka International Airport before they jetted off to Egypt.

"It's been sixteen years since we qualified to the Olympics and you have about three or four games away from a ticket to the Olympics. We believe you can do it so believe in yourselves and do it for Ghana."

Randy Abbey a member of the Executive Council also told the team to make history by breaking the Olympic game curse by qualifying.

"You have a chance to make history; a chance to end our long wait to the Olympics. Please go all out and make history," Randy Abbey told the players.
Ghana will open the tournament with a match against Cameroon on the opening day before facing host nation Egypt three days later before playing Mali 14th November.

The Black Meteor will hope to be a part of the first three nations that will qualify for the Olympic games in Tokyo 2020.

Ghana last appeared at the quadrennial tournament in Greece Athens in 2004.
