Western United striker Kwabena Appiah-Kubi has been named in the Hyundai Australian- league team of the week 5.

This follows his superb performance for his side in their game against Sydney Wanderers which was capped with a fine goal which proved to be the winner to match his performance.

He is joined on the list by Stefan Marinovic, Curtis Good, Steven Taylor and Lanclan Jackson in the team of the week.

Other players in the squad are Josh Risdon, Diego Castro, James Troisi, Conor Metcalfe, Ola Toivonen and Craig Noone.

Appiah might not boast the goal record of the man he deputised for in Western United’s clash with the Wanderers, but the finish was one even Besart Berisha himself would’ve been proud of to give his side a 2-1 victory

That excellent swivel and finish was the match-winner for the Hyundai A-League newcomers. Moreover, the attacker’s explosive pace was utilised effectively to keep the Wanderers defence concerned.

The 27 year old New Zealand born of Ghanaian parents has made 3 appearances for his side scoring just once.
